Backpack Food Ministry

2014 Packing and needs list

Are you interested in fighting childhood hunger right here in Lenoir?  Come join First Methodist as we continue to pack backpacks of much needed food for Davenport A+ School children during the school year.  For a current list of needed food items click here.  The extra meals we provide each child sustains them over weekends and school breaks and answers Jesus' call to "feed my lambs" (John 21:15).  For details and information, contact the church office at 754-4922.

Potato Project

In 2013 we welcome new partners; members of Fairview Presbyterian Church will plant with FUMC, Lenoir. Caldwell Correctional Center, West Lenoir Baptist Church, 4-H Plant a Row in Sawmills, Patterson Science Center, and three Elementary School WrapAround Program Gardens will all plant through this faith project.

In 2013, this project will sow 800 pounds of potato seed throughout Caldwell County.  Harvests will be donated to local pantries, consumed by youth gardeners and their families, and be served at Caldwell Correctional Center.  To date, this project has harvested 13,000 of potatoes and generously sowed God’s Love.
