How We Can Help
Food Pantry-FUMC Lenoir
The Food Pantry’s mission is to increase access to food for hungry people that are walk-ins at the church. Our Food Pantry collects and stores food to distribute free of charge to low income families and individuals.
Our food is supplied by church members – either by bringing food by the church office or with a monetary gift to the church. Our pantry consists of can/box food – nonperishable items.
We have clothes available for men, women and children. Clothes are regularly distributed during our Room at the Table meal on certain Saturdays. If you have a need, please contact our office 828-754-4922 and let them know. We will be happy to assist where we can.
Room at the Table
This is our monthly outreach to the community. Our community soup kitchen is not open during weekends, and our church felt the call to provide weekend nourishment. We provide a hot meal, clothes, books, showers and haircuts free of charge to anyone in need. The church CLC is open from 4pm-7pm on the fourth Saturday of each month. Sunday school classes or service groups assist in preparing and serving the meal. What began as a once a month venture for our church has now grown into a service that has gone community wide. The monthly schedule is s follows
First Saturday of the month hosted by New Song Church in our (FUMC) CLC
Second Saturday meal served at St. James Episcopal Church, Lenoir
Third Saturday meal served at First Presbyterian Church,Lenoir
Fourth Saturday hosted by us in our CLC
Fifth Saturday at First Baptist Church, Lenoir
